Vauxhall has now sold more than 100,000 electric cars

Since 2024, Vauxhall has offered an electric version of every car, SUV, and van in its UK model range, from the Corsa to the Movano

A Vauxhall Grandland Ultimate Electric claimed the milestone achievement of being the 100,000th battery powered model sold by the marque

More than 100,000 Vauxhall electric cars have been sold in the UK, representing a major milestone for the British brand.

By October 2026, Vauxhall had recorded 102,852 battery electric vehicle sales in its home market, as the company continues to extend its EV range. A Vauxhall Grandland Electric Ultimate SUV claimed the 100,000th sale.

In 2021, Vauxhall became one of the first marques to offer an electric version of every van in its lineup. Three years later, this had grown to include an EV option for all its passenger cars and SUVs.

The Mokka Electric crossover has been the best-selling electric Vauxhall of all, with 26,000 cars delivered since 2020. Following closely behind, with a total of 23,000 sales, is the Corsa Electric supermini.

Earlier this year, Vauxhall revealed high-performance GSE electric versions of the Corsa and Mokka, furthering their appeal.

EV sales sparked by Ampera in 2011

Vauxhall has taken 15 years to reach 100,000 electric car sales. Its first EV sold in the UK was the Ampera, which hit the market in 2011. A range-extender powertrain used a petrol engine to drive the Ampera’s electric motor, along with recharging its battery pack.

During its first year on sale, just four Amperas were delivered to customers. This increased to 455 examples in 2012, but sales were still slow.

An electric version of the Corsa was added to Vauxhall’s lineup in 2019, rapidly accelerating the rate of electrification.

More than 16,000 electric models were sold by 2021, then more than 50,000 electric Vauxhalls found homes by the end of 2023.

A milestone moment for EV motoring

Vauxhall launched its Electric Streets campaign in 2023, intended to help EV drivers identify locations where on-street charging is most needed.

Since it began, some 13,000 streets across the country have been registered as requiring on-street charging infrastructure.

Eurig Druce, managing director of Vauxhall, said: “Surpassing 100,000 electric vehicle sales in the UK is a significant milestone for Vauxhall. From the revolutionary Ampera to today’s fully electrified car and van range, we have remained a champion of electric vehicles, and our focus is to continue making electric mobility more accessible and attainable for British drivers and businesses.

“This milestone reflects the progress being made in bringing EVs into the mainstream. Whether it’s our Electric Streets of Britain campaign, our pioneering pricing strategy and an electric option across our entire range, or building electric vans here in the UK, we are helping more customers make the switch with confidence.”
