Volkswagen of America has announced that in-car video gaming will be available for selected 2027 model year vehicles.
It makes the German marque the first volume automotive brand in North America to offer in-car gaming, via the addition of N-Dream’s AirConsole platform.
Set to launch with a catalog of 20 different games, including plenty of arcade classics, AirConsole makes use of Volkswagen’s central infotainment touchscreen when the vehicle is parked.
Players simply need to scan a QR code using their smartphones to access a game, meaning no additional hardware or controllers are required to play.
Play Pac-Man, Tetris, and many more
Among the games set to be available for AirConsole at launch will be Pac-Man Championship Edition, Uno Car Party, and Tetris.
Exclusive Volkswagen content is included as well, with the famous VW badge used as power pellets in Pac-Man, plus the game’s bonus fruits replaced with classic VW vehicles.
The N-Dream AirConsole application will be available on 2027 Volkswagen Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, Tiguan, Golf GTI, Golf R, and ID. Buzz models.
Owners will need to have their vehicle enrolled with the In-Vehicle Premium connected service, and have an active subscription. The latter costs $149 per year after an initial free trial period.
Volkswagen Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, Tiguan, and Golf models all come with three months of In-Vehicle Premium access, while ID. Buzz buyers receive a 12-month complimentary period.
A richer in-vehicle experience

The AirConsole application has previously been offered by various manufacturers in Europe, including for owners of Audi, BMW, Porsche, and Skoda vehicles.
