Alpine A290 prices and specs revealed

Available to order now, first deliveries of the electric Alpine A290 are expected in April 2025. Here's what you need to know.

UK prices and specifications for the Alpine A290 have been announced. The electric hot hatch will cost from £33,500.

As the high-performance version of the new Renault 5 E-Tech, the A290 shares the title of 2025 European Car of the Year

Available to order now, the A290 has two powertrain options, plus a choice of five different trim levels.

Those buying through Alpine’s Mobilize Financial Services will, if they order before 4 February 2025, be offered a host of VIP activities, including track days and access to motorsport events. Three years of free servicing is included, too.

Depending on the trim level chosen, the Alpine A290 has either a 180hp or 220hp electric motor, both of which are combined with a 52kWh battery. Opting for the lower-powered motor means a 0-62mph time of 7.4 seconds. The 220hp version reduces this by a second.

When fully charged, the 180hp A290 has an official, WLTP-tested range of 236 miles, with the 220hp motor reducing this slightly to 226 miles. Rapid charging can replenish the battery from 15 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.

The Alpine A290 GT model kicks off the range at £33,500. It comes equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a 10-inch navigation touchscreen, wireless smartphone charging, heated seats, a heated steering wheel and privacy glass.

Like the standard GT, the £36,000 GT Premium is offered only with the 180hp electric motor. However, it adds two-tone Nappa leather upholstery, blue brake calipers and a more powerful audio system.

The Alpine A290 GT Performance brings the 220hp motor to the party, along with sportier tyres, black exterior badges and red brake calipers. It is priced at £36,000.

For £37,500, the GTS model has black alloy wheels and adjustable lumbar support seats, plus the choice of a two-tone exterior paint scheme.

Topping the range at launch is the £38,500 A290 Premiere Edition. Blue alloy wheel centre caps, blue brake calipers, extra safety equipment, bespoke carpets and a commemorative plaque are all included.

The first A290 demonstrators will arrive in Alpine dealerships from March 2025, followed by the first deliveries to customers in April.
