New Audi Q9 SUV targets Range Rover, priced from £103,900

Available to order now, first deliveries of Audi’s new flagship seven-seat Q9 SUV will begin in November 2026

A 3.0-litre diesel V6 engine will be the sole powertrain on offer in the UK, giving the Audi Q9 299hp and 465lb-ft of torque

Audi has announced prices and specifications for its range-topping Q9 SUV, due to arrive in the UK later this year.

Taking on the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS luxury SUVs, the new Q9 will be more expensive than its German rivals.

Prices for the largest Audi to date start from £103,900, positioning it close to the cost of an entry-level Range Rover.

However, Audi will point to the Q9’s comprehensive level of standard specification, along with its seven-seat interior.

“As our first full-size SUV flagship, it completes the Audi SUV portfolio and introduces a new benchmark for luxury, innovation and comfort,” said José Miguel Aparicio, director of Audi UK. “Its suite of cutting-edge technologies elevates the in-car experience for our customers, transforming every journey into a truly special occasion.”

Audi keeps diesel power alive

Measuring some 5,310mm in length and 2,210mm across, the Q9 is a sprawling SUV by any measure

Customers in North America – likely the Q9’s main market – can have their Audi powered by a 429hp twin-turbocharged petrol V6.

European buyers get a 3.0-litre V6 diesel, with mild hybrid technology and an electrically powered compressor. It serves up 299hp and a muscular 465lb ft of torque.

Having a diesel as the only engine option makes the Q9 something of an outlier in a market that has shifted towards electrified powertrains.

An eight-speed automatic transmission will be standard, combined with Audi’s trademark Quattro all-wheel drive. Adaptive air suspension and rear-wheel steering are also part of the package.

Just two trim levels will be offered in the UK. These start with the Q9 Edition 1, priced from £103,900.

It comes with a set of 22-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels, red-painted brake calipers, an S Line bodykit and gloss black exterior trim. There’s also Audi’s largest panoramic glass sunroof to date, along with a power-operated tailgate, power-closing doors and Matrix LED headlights.

All seven seats are upholstered in perforated Nappa leather, with heated chairs for second and third rows. The centre armrest is heated, as are those on the front and rear doors. Passengers can enjoy four-zone climate control, too.

The interior inlays on Edition 1 models are dark matt brushed aluminium, with a black Dinamica headlining and seat belts in black with red edging.

Infotainment is taken care of by a 14.5-inch central touchscreen and an 11.9-inch digital instrument panel, plus a separate 12.3-inch display for the front passenger. A premium Bang & Olufsen sound system is included as well.

Moving up to the Audi Q9 in top-spec Vorsprung trim increases the price to £113,250, and brings even more equipment for the flagship SUV.

The alloy wheels grow in size to 23 inches, while the digital Matrix LED headlights gain advanced dynamic indicators.

At the rear, the world’s first curved digital OLED tail lights offer eight different light signatures, selectable via the infotainment system.

Interior highlights include carbon fibre trim, extended ambient lighting and an upgraded Bang & Olufsen 4D Premium sound system with 22 speakers. Vorsprung models can also be specified with a luxurious six-seat Lounge package, adding £5,000 to the list price.

Orders for the Audi Q9 can be placed now. The first deliveries to UK customers are expected in November 2026.
