Chinese car company Aion is looking to rival the Renault 5 E-Tech and Volkswagen ID. Polo with its latest new model.
The Aion UT is the second vehicle offered by the marque in the UK, following the Aion V launched earlier this year.
Set to enter the growing electric supermini segment, the Aion UT was designed at a Milan studio operated by its parent company, GAC.
Aion says the UT has a ‘playful, distinctive face’, with headlights inspired by owls. Buyers can choose from five exterior paint colours.
It also promises that the UT will deliver ‘class-leading space, quality, refinement and premium-level features’.
The long-range electric supermini
A single specification sees the UT equipped with a 60kWh battery, capable of an official range of 268 miles when fully charged.
Notably, this is further than the 252 miles offered by the rival Renault 5 E-Tech.
Recharging the battery from 30 to 80 percent takes 24 minutes with a suitable DC charging device, while a 204hp motor sees the 0-62mph sprint dispatched in 7.4 seconds.
The UT will be offered to UK customers in just one trim level, although a Premium Package can be added. This brings a panoramic glass sunroof, power-operated tailgate, ventilated driver’s seat and wireless smartphone charging for the EV supermini.
All versions come equipped with a large 14.6-inch central touchscreen, heated front seats and 360-degree surround-view parking cameras.
Eight-year warranty and more included
Every Aion UT will come with an eight-year warranty, free servicing, free roadside assistance and free MOTs as part of the company’s ‘Great 8’ package. This cover remains with the vehicle, even when it is transferred to a new owner.

Orders for the Aion UT will open next month, with the first customer deliveries expected in October 2026. UK prices will be confirmed closer to the on-sale date.
