New Hyundai Ioniq 3 EV available to order from just £18,495

All versions of the new Hyundai Ioniq 3 five-door hatchback qualify for the maximum £3,750 Electric Car Grant.

The entry-level Hyundai Ioniq 3 features a 42kWh battery pack, allowing it to officially cover up to 214 miles

Orders are now open for the Hyundai Ioniq 3 electric hatchback, with a maximum government grant to sweeten the deal.

The Korean marque’s new EV qualifies for the top Band 1 Electric Car Grant (ECG), meaning a discount of £3,750 is applied across the model range.

As a result, the cheapest entry-level Ioniq 3 has a bargain price of £18,495, undercutting established EVs such as the Renault 5 E-Tech and Ford Puma Gen-E.

Hyundai previously allowed customers to reserve an Ioniq 3 ahead of order books opening, offering them a £1,500 ‘reservation saving’.

The company will now allow those who reserved a car to convert this discount into the full £3,750 ECG when making an order.

Battery range of up to 308 miles

With class-leading aerodynamics, the five-seat Ioniq 3 is designed to maximise range without compromising on interior space. A boot capacity of 441 litres outclasses many outwardly larger hatchback cars.

In entry-level Advance trim, the £18,495 Ioniq 3 comes equipped with a 42kWh battery and a 147hp electric motor.

When fully charged, this version of the Hyundai is capable of covering up to 214 miles, and is aimed at urban drivers.

All other versions of the Ioniq 3 are fitted with a larger 61kWh battery pack and slightly less powerful 135hp motor. This gives a substantially longer WLTP-tested range of 308 miles.

Prices for vehicles with the bigger 61kWh battery start from £21,995 in Advance guise. Premium, Ultimate and N Line Evo specifications are also available.

The Ioniq 3 will be the first Hyundai sold in Europe with the new Pleos Connect infotainment setup, which is based on an Android operating system.

Ioniq 3 arrives in the UK this month

Hyundai has also unveiled competitive finance packages for the launch of the Ioniq 3, with a 61kWh Advance model available from £355 per month. The 48-month deal requires a £355 customer deposit, and has an APR of 8.9 percent.

Ashley Andrew, president of Hyundai Motor UK, commented: “The response to Ioniq 3 has been extraordinary, with more customers registering their interest before launch than for any new Hyundai we’ve introduced in the UK.

“Securing the full £3,750 Electric Car Grant across every version means we can now turn that interest into orders at a price that puts a genuinely spacious, long-range electric car within reach of far more drivers.

“With cars arriving in our retailers this month, we’re expecting its popularity to continue as more potential buyers manage to get behind the wheel.”
