Vauxhall has expanded the model lineup for its top-selling Frontera SUV, adding a cheaper petrol-powered version.
The starting point for Frontera ownership comes with a turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine and six-speed manual gearbox.
With an output of 100hp and 151lb ft of torque, the new three-cylinder engine can accelerate the family SUV from 0-62mph in 12.4 seconds in models with five seats. The heavier seven-seat version requires 13.3 seconds.
A tested fuel economy figure of up to 47.1mpg will likely to be a bigger selling point for this Vauxhall, however.
Petrol power for a lower cost

A £22,820 starting price will grab the headlines for the new petrol-engined Frontera. This means it undercuts even the cheapest electric version of the SUV.
The most affordable Frontera 1.2 Turbo Petrol – as the model is officially known – comes in Design trim. This features 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a 10-inch central touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, and digital climate control.
Further standard equipment includes automatic windscreen wipers, cruise control and a rear-view camera.
Moving up the Frontera model range, the GS version starts at £25,220 with the new 100hp engine. This adds a gloss black roof, gloss black door mirrors, front and rear parking sensors, wireless smartphone charging and satellite navigation.
Orders for petrol Frontera now open

Fully-loaded Ultimate trim is also available with the new 100hp petrol-powered Vauxhall Frontera.
Priced from £26,020, Ultimate spec adds a heated windscreen, heated steering wheel and heated front seats. The roof rails are finished in high-gloss black, and there are LED front fog lights.
Both GS and Ultimate versions of the Vauxhall Frontera can be combined with the seven-seat layout for an additional £550.
Orders for the new petrol-engined Vauxhall Frontera can be placed now. The customers are expected to take delivery before the end of 2026.
