The Hyundai Elantra N performance sedan is now available with a stealthier Monochrome appearance package.Â
Said to be inspired by Hyundai’s motorsport heritage, the Elantra N Monochrome ditches bold colors for an understated look.
It follows demand from customers for a version of the compact four-door with a more restrained aesthetic, as opposed to the regular model with its contrasting bright red details.
Along with subtle black trim, the Elantra N Monochrome offers a choice of two exterior paint colors: Abyss Black Pearl and Hyundai N’s trademark Performance Blue.
Bet it all on black

To create the Elantra N Monochrome, Hyundai has replaced the red detailing on the front and rear bumpers, side sills, brake calipers, and rear diffuser.
Along with ditching the bright exterior trim, other changes include the addition of black forged alloy wheels.
Hyundai will offer two configurations for the Elantra N Monochrome. The Upper trim level sees the rear spoiler and side mirrors rendered in carbon fiber. It also gains Alcantara interior detailing over the base model.
All cars come with a Monochrome-exclusive steering wheel, which is trimmed in Alcantara and gains a black finish for the buttons.Â
Mechanically, there is no difference from the regular Elantra N, which packs a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine producing 276 horsepower.
Not coming to the United States… yet

Joon Park, head of the N Management Group at Hyundai Motor Company, commented: “The Elantra N Monochrome captures the essence of Hyundai N’s motorsport history and commitment to high-performance culture in a restrained package.Â
“Having listened to customers’ voices for a toned-down high-performance model, we restrained visual emphases and focused on form, texture and material to create a monochromatic rendition of the Elantra N that is understated, yet undeniably N.”
At launch, the Elantra N Monochrome will be offered solely in South Korea, Australia and Canada. However, Hyundai says it has plans to expand this ‘to other global markets’, which could include the USA.
Notably, the previous Elantra N TCR Edition was not offered in the United States, although it was eventually brought into the country in limited numbers.
