The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class – or S 650, to be more precise – is essentially the standard S-Class saloon with the lux-o-meter cranked to the max.

The styling won’t be to everyone’s taste, but when you’re reclined with your feet up in the back of the S 650, you’re unlikely to care what anyone else thinks.

It costs just over £183,000, which places it amongst the elite names of the luxury car world.

Power is sourced from a 6.0-litre 12-cylinder engine developing 630hp and emitting 320g/km CO2 – because saving the planet is a matter for other people.
