Bentley Continental GT review

From £157,000

No other manufacturer does luxury and performance quite like Bentley. Which makes the Continental GT Coupe one of the best grand tourers on the planet.

  • Bentley Continental GT 2020
  • For: Performance, style, cabin quality
  • Against: Expensive to buy, even before options
  • Verdict: A near-perfect GT car – with or without a roof

No other manufacturer does luxury and performance quite like Bentley. Which makes the Continental GT Coupe one of the best grand tourers on the planet.

Predictably, it works just as well as a convertible, with the Continental GTC offering a decadent, open-air alternative.

These second-generation models stick to the winning formula of the original 2003 Continental GT, which was reinvented under Volkswagen Group ownership. The shape might be familiar, but Bentley has perfected the details to create a car that’s hard to fault.

If you can afford it, the 635hp 6.0-litre W12 is the most indulgent engine. It drives all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox and is devastatingly effective. It’ll propel the Continental GT to a top speed in excess of 200mph – even with the roof down.

In relative terms, it’s remarkably efficient, thanks to cylinder shutdown technology.

Few cars offer such a rich blend of luxury, comfort and performance.
