Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso: V6 hybrid coupe hints at next Quadrifoglio

Unveiled at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, the V6-powered Cuorerosso concept will set the design direction for future Alfa Romeos

Powering the Cuorerosso concept is a 2.9-litre V6 full-hybrid powertrain, complete with Alfa Romeo’s Q4 all-wheel drive

Alfa Romeo has chosen the 2026 Paris Motor Show to reveal a stunning new concept car, set to influence future models.

The Cuorerosso is a dramatic four-door coupe, with a four-seat layout and rear-hinged back doors, plus classic Alfa Romeo proportions.

Most significantly, the Cuorerosso features another trademark of the Italian marque, with a V6 engine lurking beneath its Liquid Ink red bodywork.

The 2.9-litre petrol V6 is combined with a full hybrid powertrain, along with Alfa Romeo’s Q4 all-wheel-drive system.

The marque says it wants to offer an array of powertrains in future models, including fully electric, plug-in hybrid, mild hybrid and full hybrid options.

A celebration of classic Alfa Romeo design

Along with V6 power, the Cuorerosso contains plenty of other highlights from the Italian marque’s back catalogue.

The ‘Trilobo’ design, with a central Scudetto shield grille flanked by the headlights, has been a staple of Alfa Romeo models for decades.

For the Cuorerosso, it is said to provide ‘personality and presence’, as Alfa Romeo believes a car ‘cannot be reduced to a cold piece of technology’. A subtle dig at the proliferation of new-entrant Chinese marques in Paris, perhaps?

The Scudetto grille leads into a bonnet ‘inspired by the wake of a boat in motion on the water’, while the ‘Coda Tronca’ rear end features two round lights that evoke the 8C supercar.

Squint, and there is even a hit of Lancia Stratos in the shape of the rear quarters, which is certainly no bad thing. Don’t forget the classic ‘telephone dial’ alloy wheels, too.

Cars for people who love driving

Inside, the Cuorerosso looks just as dramatic, with the two round instrument dials able to merge together to become one display.

Santo Ficili, Alfa Romeo and Maserati CEO, said: “Alfa Romeo has always created cars that are capable not only of moving people, but of arousing something within them. It is this human-machine connection, fuelled by a unique culture of the Italian spirit, sportiness and passion, which makes each of our cars an Alfa Romeo.

“With Cuorerosso, we bring this identity into the future, one open to different energy solutions, in which technology, function and quality are always at the service of emotions and driving pleasure. This is our idea of Bellezza Necessaria: to create cars designed for those who love to drive, which can interpret their time and simultaneously become icons.”

For now, the Cuorerosso will not become a standalone Alfa Romeo model, but will simply influence how the brand evolves over the coming years.

However, the marque certainly has form for putting its most beautiful concept cars into production, so there is always hope.
