New Jeep Wrangler Switchback completes special edition series

The Switchback completes a year-long celebration of Jeep’s 85th anniversary, a clever take on personalizing the 4x4 icon

Based upon the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X, the new Switchback will be available in both two- and four-door configurations

After 12 months of 85th anniversary celebrations, Jeep has finally released its final special edition Wrangler.

The 2027 Jeep Wrangler Switchback completes the ‘Twelve 4 Twelve Series’ of vehicles. This has seen a unique version of the iconic 4×4 revealed every month for the past year.

Based on the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X, the Switchback will be offered to enthusiasts in both two- and four-door body styles, and is intended to offer a bold take on personalization.

At the core of the Switchback are contrasting black and gray body panels, designed to create the ‘impression of sibling Wranglers swapping parts’.

The name itself is taken from the assembly process for the Switchback, which takes place at Jeep’s Toledo Complex in Ohio.

Switching things up on the line

Wranglers in Gloss Black and Sting-Gray paint colors are sequenced together down the line, with doors and hoods swapped to create the Switchback design.

These are matched with Gecko-colored accents on the grille surround, beadlock wheel rings, hood graphics and a swing-gate decal.

A three-piece hardtop is fitted in either Sting-Gray or Gloss Black, along with bespoke graphics for the hood and sides of the vehicle.

On the inside, Global Black and Sea Salt Nappa leather are finished with Lime accent stitching. There are exclusive debossed Switchback logos on the seats, too

More Sea Salt Nappa leather is used for the instrument panel surround, door armrests and center-console lid, again with Lime accent stitching.

A Willys satin chrome shifter medallion and unique air vent graphics featuring the iconic seven-slot grille also form part of the Switchback package.

Completing the Twelve 4 Twelve series

With the launch of the Switchback, Jeep’s Twelve 4 Twelve anniversary series has now reached its conclusion.

“Twelve 4 Twelve unleashed creativity across the Jeep brand, bringing teams together to reimagine an icon through different perspectives while staying true to what has always defined Wrangler,” said Branden Coté, Jeep brand CEO.

“What this team accomplished with Twelve 4 Twelve is truly unique, a testament to the creativity, passion and collaboration that define the Jeep brand. Switchback is the perfect finale.

“It takes Wrangler’s inherent spirit of personalization somewhere unexpected, pairing bold contrasts and interchangeable elements with the legendary 4×4 capability at the heart of every Wrangler. Even after 85 years, there are still new ways to express what Wrangler can be.”

Orders for the Wrangler Switchback will open in November 2026, adding $2,870 to the base price of a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X.
