Vauxhall Corsa review

From £16,415

It looks appealing, is comfortable and reasonably premium inside, and has an excellent 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

  • Vauxhall Corsa
  • For: Upmarket feel, equipment, electric option
  • Against: Four stars for safety, Peugeot 208 looks better
  • Verdict: Finally, a Corsa that takes the fight to the Ford Fiesta

The new Corsa is an important car for Vauxhall.

Primarily, it will revive the battle with the Ford Fiesta for the title of Britain’s favourite small car. But it also needs to entice a new breed of electric car buyers to the brand.

It looks appealing, is comfortable and reasonably premium inside, and has an excellent 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

It shares much in common with the Peugeot 208, including the optional electric drivetrain. With 209 miles of range and affordable PCP deals, it could be a big hit for Vauxhall.

The Corsa looks more upmarket than before, both inside and out. Rear-seat space is good and the 309-litre boot is class-competitive.

It also drives like a bigger car, and boasts equipment that wouldn’t look out of place in the class above.

It’s just a shame it couldn’t manage a five-star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests.
