Mercedes-Benz C-Class review

From £34,670

There is a Mercedes-Benz C-Class for everyone, so you might want to think twice before spending more on buying that GLC SUV.

  • Mercedes-Benz C-Class
  • For: Quality interior, impressive tech, efficient engines
  • Against: Expensive, SUVs are more practical, dull to drive
  • Verdict: Proof that saloons remain relevant

Launched in 2014, and treated to a comprehensive overhaul in 2018, the C-Class remains at the top of its game.

Central to its appeal is a classy and beautifully finished interior, plus a generous level of equipment and impressive array of options.

Even the kick-off SE trim boasts 17-inch alloy wheels, active parking assist, reversing camera, cruise control, heated front seats, DAB radio, five driving modes and automatic wipers.

The 2.0-litre diesel engine in the C220d is a particular highlight and could be all the car you’ll ever need – especially if you opt for the C-Class Estate.

The C-Class is also available as an expensive but gorgeous two-door Cabriolet, plus an attractive two-door Coupe.

Other versions include the C300 QE plug-in hybrid, along with the blistering Mercedes-AMG C63 and C63 S models.

There’s a C-Class for all, so you might want to think twice before buying that GLC SUV.
