Fiat 500X review

From £19,245

It’s getting on a bit, but the 500X remains one of the best small crossovers you can buy.

  • Fiat 500X
  • For: Styling, efficient engines, decent to drive
  • Against: Getting on a bit, four-star safety rating
  • Verdict: A grown-up 500 that drives well

Although the Fiat 500X shares very little with its more famous – and significantly smaller – sibling, we should count ourselves lucky it doesn’t look like the 500L people carrier.

In fact, Fiat has done a terrific job of creating a crossover homage to its 500 – it’s one of the best looking cars in its segment.

It’s also one of the best to drive, so that’s another reason to be cheerful.

Following an update in 2018, there are now five versions to choose from – you can go sporty, posh or rugged.

All are well-equipped, with power sourced from a pair of efficient petrol engines. Prices start from around £19,500, rising to over £25,000 for the top trim level.

The cabin is spacious, with interior quality raised a notch for the facelift.

It’s getting on a bit, but the 500X remains one of the best small crossovers you can buy.
