Bring a Trailer launches new shipping service

Bring a Trailer has unveiled an integrated shipping function, allowing winning bidders to have their new car delivered directly to them.

Bring a Trailer Shipping

Bring a Trailer has announced a new shipping service as part of its online collector car auctions.

Bidders will be able to see exactly how much shipping a car to them will cost, with the option to use the service should they be successful.

The auction company also promises no hidden costs, and a range of transportation options available to buyers.

Fully integrated shipping service

Whilst some auction websites advertise third-party transport agents, Bring a Trailer aims to integrate shipping directly into the buying process.

Real-time quotes for transporting an advertised car can be generated at any point when the auction is live. Bidders simply need to enter their own zip code for a quote.

Should a bidder win, the cost of shipping can be added directly to the purchase price of the vehicle.

Bidders have the choice between enclosed car transporters, or open carriers, depending on their budget. Bring a Trailer will organize door-to-door collection and delivery of the vehicle, with real-time GPS tracking during transit.

The company promises bidders will not be hit with extra charges, and that there is no negotiation necessary. Making use of Bring a Trailer Shipping also sees cars protected by an “umbrella” insurance during transportation.

Parts can also be shipped with vehicles, providing that they are stored securely in the trunk.

At present, the shipping service is available for vehicles listed on Bring a Trailer that are located in the 48 contiguous United States. Quotes can already be generated on listings that support Bring a Trailer shipping now.

“We are excited to launch BaT Shipping to make transporting cars quicker and easier,” said Randy Nonnenberg, Bring a Trailer co-founder and President.

“BaT Shipping is yet another innovation from our team that will make transacting smoother and easier for users of the platform.”

  1. Bring a Trailer Shipping is a total joke, don’t waste your time!

It was VERY clear when I complete the online information the vehicle is a 2021 GMC Yukon short wheelbase. Days after confirmation and the. assignment of a shipper they reply saying the shipper says the vehicle is too big for their trucks.

What waste fo time. Look elsewhere. Bring a Trailer Shipping is nothing more than a do nothing broker,

  2. Bought my second vehicle on BaT about a month ago on Feb 28th, 2022. By March 4th the buyer/seller had both confirmed everything needed for the shipment and received the shipping confirmation number on Monday March 7th. That is when the clock starts. They say that the vehicle should be picked up within 7-10 days of confirmation. It is now April 1, 2022 and I have yet to receive anything but excuses as to why I don’t even have a scheduled pick up date yet.

I ordered a open carrier transport, not “white glove” service, not the “perfect” transport (both excuses I’ve been given). I just want my vehicle delivered promptly.

I have shipped with two other car carriers before, its not rocket science. I could probably make other arrangements and have it picked up within 72 hrs. For some reason, the shipping rep/main contact, as well as the phone “customer service” rep, both feel it necessary to try to make me believe that this is a complicated process and that finding “just-the-right” carrier that meets our stringent requirements can be difficult – more excuses.

The likely reality is that I was probably under-quoted (as my other quoted estimates were $300-$400 higher, hence my choosing BaT shipping. I am shipping coast to coast so around two grand total. This is probably why nobody wants to take the load now. With fuel prices on the rise, I don’t see the problem resolving itself with time. Undoubtedly, fuel prices are even higher now than they were one month ago.

Still unresolved to date, who knows when I will get my car. Their (email only) know-nothing reps just keep giving the same excuses, and good luck trying to contact a customer service or shipping manager, all attempts at contact (phone & email) have been ignored. If I ever do get the car without having to cancel and start over with another carrier, this will undoubtedly be the last time I use BaT shipping. They are not shippers, they are brokers. They will give you a low ball price to hook you, and then you wait, and wait, and wait…and maybe your car will show up, if nobody takes the load at their lowball price, then maybe not. You are out of luck, …and they really couldn’t care less.
