SsangYong Tivoli review

From £14,995

The SsangYong Tivoli is one of the best value compact crossovers. As a value-for-money purchase, it makes a lot of sense.

  • SsangYong Tivoli
  • For: Price, specification, long warranty
  • Against: Interior quality, limited choice of engines
  • Verdict: Value-priced, with an excellent warranty

The SsangYong Tivoli is one of the best value compact crossovers.

Prices start from £14,995, but even the top-spec comes in at less than £23,000 – and offers a generous level of equipment.

The Tivoli also offers a class-leading seven-year/150,000-mile warranty. It’s not all good news, though.

The exterior styling is a bit derivative, while the cabin looks like it was designed a decade ago. We could also criticise some of the interior plastics, but everything needs to be viewed in the context of the price.

There are two 1.6-litre engines available: a 128hp petrol and 115hp diesel. Neither offers whippet-like pace, but the diesel returns 54.3mpg, making it our preferred engine.

Also available is a Tivoli XLV, a kind of ‘SUV estate’ with a massive 720-litre boot. Prices start from less than £20,000, but you’re limited to the Ultimate trim.
