Seat Arona review

From £18,605

The Seat Arona is a capable and fun to drive small SUV that's one of the best (and best value) cars in its class

  • Seat Arona

For: Fun to drive, long list of kit, efficient engines

Against: Smallish boot, sombre cabin, 95hp version is sluggish

Verdict: A terrific all-rounder that’s loaded with kit

REVIEW

The Seat Arona is one of the best small SUVs in its class.

The range starts with the SE trim. For £17,500, this features 17-inch alloy wheels, LED rear lights, a contrasting roof, air conditioning, a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

All other models get a larger 8.0-inch screen and rear parking sensors.

There are two versions of the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, along with a 1.5 petrol and 1.6 diesel. The 95hp 1.0 engine is best avoided, but the 115hp version offers a good blend of performance and efficiency.

Inside, the Arona’s biggest crime is blandness, although top-spec models are lifted by ambient lighting, digital dials and personalisation options.

There’s loads of room for rear-seat passengers, although the trade-off is a relatively small boot.

It’s decent to drive, with direct steering, tight body control and a ride that’s firm without being uncomfortable.
