Nissan Juke review

From £17,860

Nissan has done a Range Rover Evoque: tried to improve the failings of the old model without diluting its identity.

  • Nissan Juke
  • For: Low price, good spec, distinctive styling
  • Against: Not everyone likes the looks, only one engine
  • Verdict: If you liked the old Nissan Juke, you’ll love this

Launched in 2010, the Juke amassed one million sales before it bowed out in 2019.

Now, Nissan has done a Range Rover Evoque: tried to improve the failings of the old model without diluting its identity.

The ‘Marmite’ styling remains, albeit with sharper creases and angles, plus an even bolder front end. It’s also bigger, which means more space in the rear seats and increased luggage capacity.

Two wrongs put right. Inside, the new Juke feels more premium than before, with a host of new technology, including sector-first Google Home.

It all feels more mature, which is something you’ll notice on the road. The steering is crisp, it handles in a measured way, and the efficient 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine is a big step up from the old 1.6.

Overall, the new Juke is classier, easier to live with and safer. Job done, Nissan.
