Jaguar F-Type review

From £54,510

The F-Type is one of the most stylish cars at any price, especially following the facelift introduced for 2020.

  • Jaguar F-Type
  • For: Styling, performance, handling
  • Against: Cabin quality, limited practicality, expensive top models
  • Verdict: A stylish sports car that corners brilliantly and sounds superb

It’s hard to define the Jaguar F-Type.

The least expensive models rival the Porsche 718 Cayman and Boxster, both in terms of price and performance, while flagship R versions are more in league with the Porsche 911 and Audi R8.

One thing’s for sure: the F-Type is one of the most stylish cars at any price, especially following the facelift introduced for 2020.

Available as a coupe or convertible, the entry-level P300 uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 300hp. Meanwhile, the P450 boasts a supercharged 450hp 5.0 V8, while the R is powered by a thunderous 575hp version of the same unit.

The F-Type has desirability in spades, but it’s not perfect.

The boot is tiny, interior packaging isn’t great, while cabin quality is a big issue – especially when you park it alongside a 911.

Ride comfort suffers on larger alloy wheels, but the handling is sublime.
