Tesla Model 3 review

From £42,990

Everything Tesla knows about building electric cars has been distilled into the Model 3. It is a standout performer in a growing segment.

  • Tesla Model 3
  • For: Electric range, understated design, performance
  • Against: Some quality issues, can get expensive
  • Verdict: A compelling blend of real-world range and performance

The Model 3 is the best Tesla you can buy.

Everything the company has learned about building electric cars has been distilled into a smaller and more affordable package, making the Model 3 a standout performer in a growing segment.

The Long Range model manages up to 360 miles on a full charge, while the Performance version serves up some frankly ridiculous – or should that be Ludicrous? – figures. A top speed of 162mph and 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds propel this flagship Model 3 into supercar territory.

Prices range from £43k to £60k before options, depending on the configuration.

Understated styling and a minimalist cabin lend the Model 3 an air of tech-laden coolness, with sufficient space for a family of four.

Some Tesla quality issues remain, which will become a bigger issue as more rivals join the EV party.

Until then, the Model 3 is 2022’s must-have electric car.
