McLaren has announced its most refined model to date – a watered down 650S, named the 625C. The company says that Asia has seen the biggest area of growth for McLaren over the last two years, with sales set to grow from 20% in 2013 to more than a third in 2014.
With demand so great, McLaren is responding with the 625C.
Powered by the same twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 as the 650S and 12C, the 625C is detuned to 625hp.
The C stands for Club, hinting at a more road-biased state of tune – and that’s exactly what you get. We’re talking a more compliant suspension set up, with softer rear spring rates.
Although it has less power than the 650S, the top speed remains at 207mph – and it takes just 0.1 of a second to hit 62mph (3.1 seconds).
There are no plans to launch the 625C in Europe, but buyers in Hong Kong will be able to opt for a coupe or spider model. It’ll be introduced in other Asian markets over the following months.
