Boris Johnson: I want Jeremy Clarkson’s job

Could London mayor Boris Johnson be up for Top Gear presenting gig?

Boris Johnson

London mayor Boris Johnson has said that he would put his name forward for the role of Top Gear presenter, should Jeremy Clarkson be sacked over allegedly punching a producer.

During a question and answer session held on Twitter, Johnson said: “[I] am mega clarkson fan but if a vacancy wd def let my name go forward.”

He added: “…and on that bombshell, I’ll be back for another #askboris very soon. Thanks for taking part.”

Before his political career, Johnson worked as a journalist and wrote a regular car column in GQ magazine.

He would test a different car every week, and has even had books published on the subject.

Jeremy Clarkson’s ‘fracas’ is currently being investigated by the BBC, with a decision due later this week.

Two of the previous Stigs have disagreed about whether Top Gear could cope without Clarkson, while a petition signed by over a million people was delivered to the BBC in a tank.
