Audi reveals 605hp S8 Plus that'll hit 62mph in 3.8 seconds

Audi’s hot 520hp S8 saloon not fast enough for you? The manufacturer has just announced a 605hp Audi S8 Plus that will accelerate faster than an RS6.

The Audi S8 Plus uses a modified version of the same 4.0-litre biturbo V8 engine found in the regular S8, complete with an overboost function able to increase torque to 553lb ft when required.

This means it packs more torque than any other model in the Audi range – and can hit 62mph in 3.8 seconds.

Should you wish to remove the S8 Plus’s 155mph speed limiter (and why wouldn’t you?), Audi offers a dynamic package. This increases the top speed 189mph and adds fade-resistant carbon-fibre reinforced ceramic brakes.

Like the regular S8, the Plus uses a Quattro all-wheel-drive system and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Audi says the adaptive air suspension and dynamic steering found on the S8 have both been tuned for the meatier S8 Plus.

UK models will be fitted with 21-inch alloys sporting specially designed tyres.

Smatterings of carbonfibre identify the Plus model as something a bit special, while inside extra tech includes a 14-speaker Bose surround sound system and adaptive cruise control with Audi’s pre-sense front.

Audi will be taking orders for the S8 Plus from UK customers in October, with prices starting at £97,700. Deliveries will start in January 2016.
