Peugeot 108 review

From ÂŁ12,785

Launched in 2014, the 108 is starting to show its age, but it remains popular thanks to keen pricing, a generous level of equipment and Peugeot’s regular special offers.

  • Peugeot 108
  • For: Good value, cheap to run, fun to drive
  • Against: Dated cabin, only one engine, cramped in the back
  • Verdict: Stylish city car with the option of a large folding roof

The Peugeot 108 has much in common with the platform-sharing Citroen C1 and, to a slightly lesser extent, the Toyota Aygo.

Launched in 2014, the 108 is starting to show its age, but it remains popular thanks to keen pricing, a generous level of equipment and Peugeot’s regular special offers.

Entry-level Active spec is best avoided, but is your only option if you’re after a three-door 108. The Allure and Collection are more desirable, especially if you opt for the 108 Top, which features a large electric folding sunroof.

A 1.0-litre petrol engine is the only powertrain still available in 2020, and can be paired with a five-speed manual or five-speed semi-automatic transmission.

It’s a tad slow, but fine for city use, and owners – many of whom are new drivers – will appreciate its comfort and easygoing nature.

Inside, the cabin feels a bit cheap and there’s not much room in the back.
