Seat Ibiza review

From £16,445

Hey, good looking. The Seat Ibiza is one of the best looking superminis on sale. That it's based on the VW Polo further adds to its appeal.

  • Seat Ibiza

For: Styling, good to drive, plenty of kit

Against: Polo is better at holding its value, some cheap plastics

Verdict: Attractive, safe and tech-laden supermini that’s great to drive

REVIEW

The Seat Ibiza is one of the best looking cars in the supermini segment.

That in itself is enough for it to stand out, but there’s more to the Ibiza than just a pretty face.

It’s based on the Volkswagen Polo, but you get more for your money by opting for the Ibiza. Prices start from around £16,500, with even the entry-level SE boasting a decent level of kit.

Meanwhile, the flagship Xcellence Lux costs around £20k and packs the kind of equipment that wouldn’t look out of place in an Audi.

It’s great to drive, but avoid the 1.6-litre diesel, as this engine only serves to dilute the sense of fun.

The two 1.0 petrol engines are far better, especially the turbocharged TSI.

A five-star safety rating, spacious interior and some tempting finance offers make the Ibiza one of the most appealing superminis you can buy.
