Audi E-tron review

From £61,350

It might look like a regular SUV, but the Audi E-tron heralds the dawn of a new era for the company – and indeed, the electric car segment.

  • Audi E-tron 2020

For: Electric range, space, build quality

Against: Expensive, heavy, dull styling

Verdict: Audi’s first all-electric car is a classy SUV

It might look like a regular SUV, but the Audi E-tron heralds the dawn of a new era for the company – and indeed, the electric car segment.

It follows the Jaguar I-Pace as one of the first of a new breed of electric SUVs, as mainstream manufacturers begin to stamp their authority on a market previously dominated by Tesla.

Up to 237 miles of electric range is available, with the ability to replenish 80 percent of battery reserves within 30 minutes using a 150kW charger.

Prices start from over £60,000, with a long list of standard equipment to justify the price. The E-tron Vorsprung is particularly pricey, but adds the likes of virtual door mirrors and matrix LED headlights.

It’s everything you’d expect from an Audi SUV, but without a traditional engine. It’s also rather heavy and expensive. Early adopters will love it.
