Audi A6 review

From £41,305

The A6 might be the sweet-spot of the Audi range. It’s not as nice to drive as a BMW 5 Series, but build quality and cabin are top-notch.

  • Audi A6
  • For: Build quality, engines, equipment
  • Against: Dull styling, lacks precision, expensive
  • Verdict: Audi’s best all-rounder isn’t an SUV

Whisper this, but the A6 might be the sweet-spot of the current Audi range.

While suburban motorists rush to buy SUVs like shoppers in search of cheap televisions on Black Friday, the Audi A6 goes about its business in a quietly assured and confident manner.

It’s usefully more spacious than an A4, better to drive than an Audi SUV, and offers much of the tech you’ll find on the flagship A8 saloon.

Not that this comes cheap. The saloon costs upwards of £39,000, while the fire-breathing RS6 Avant is knocking on the door of £93,000.

In between, you’ll find the A6 Avant, S6 and A6 Avant Allroad. There are many engines available, along with an options list as long as your arm.

It’s not as nice to drive as a BMW 5 Series, but the build quality and cabin are top-notch.
