The BMW Design Team creation has been teased in an image released by the firm – which suggests it’s going to be a wild wide-body retro recreation that will leave enthusiasts weak at the knees. Not least us.
The 1970s BMW E9 Batmobile tribute will boast “cutting-edge materials”, to bring it right up to date; BMW says they will “translate it into the present in a new and exciting guise”.
The lower half of the body, which boasts ultra-wide wings, extreme air deflectors and a broad duo of roof and rear spoiler, is largely made from carbon fibre. We can also expect the most amazing set of big, wide wheels.
Like the motorsport-special original, it’s paired back inside, says BMW, restricted to just the essentials but all with “a high-quality structural or driving-related function”.
The firm isn’t telling us much more about the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage at the moment, but will be revealing more official images to the build-up of Villa d’Este, which is held on 22-24th May.
We can’t wait.
