Britain is the second biggest market in the world for Volvo cars – beating its home Swedish market and coming in just 233 cars behind the largest market overall, China!
The delivery of a record 6,810 cars in March 2014 has helped the firm “remain ahead of sales forecasts and firmly on course… for 20% sales growth by the end of 2015”.
Best-selling models included the V40, V60 and XC60, with the firm continuing to also enjoy strong orders for the evergreen/12-year-old XC90 SUV.
Indeed, more XC90 were sold here than in any other market in the world last month. We also took the most V40 and V40 Cross Country in the world too.
What’s more, Volvo was proud to point out the XC60 was, surprisingly, the only compact SUV “to record sales growth in Q1 2014”: it sold more than 1,500 units in March alone.
Jon Wakefield, Sales Director at Volvo Car UK said: “There’s absolutely no doubt that people are seeing Volvo in a new light, thanks to the desirable design, technology and luxury we offer our customers.
“It’s a really exciting time for the brand here in the UK and we’re delighted with this result.”
But it’s not just about the month of March, added Wakefield. “Customer orders of our cars are running at record highs – 39% up on 2013 – ensuring we will see sustained growth throughout 2014 and beyond.”
