The most valuable car brand in the world has reinforced its top dog position in 2014

Toyota has again been named the most valuable car brand in the world – and is the world’s 26th most valuable brand of all, reveals a new report.

The latest BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands 2014 report shows that the Toyota brand is worth $29.6 billion – £17.5bn – and the value rose a staggering 21% in one year alone.

Despite this, Toyota actually fell three places in the rankings.

Even so, Automotive News adds that Toyota has been top automotive brand for seven out of the past 9 years: the exceptions were 2010 and 2012, the former due to the big recalls crisis.

“Its reputation certainly slipped during the recalls, but Toyota continues to recover massively from that,” Global BrandZ director Peter Walshe told the title.

The top automotive brands 2014

BMW is the next automotive maker in the top 100 list, with a brand value of $25.7bn (£15.3bn) placing it 32nd. Mercedes-Benz follows in 42nd place with a brand value of $21.5bn (£12.8bn).

Honda (70th, $14.1bn), Ford (84th, $11.8bn) and Nissan (90th, $11bn) are the only other automotive makers in the top 100.

The rest of the top 10 automotive makers ranked by BrandZ are Volkswagen ($8.4bn), Audi ($7.1bn), Chevrolet ($4.9bn) and Hyundai ($4.6bn).

For context, Google is rated the most valuable brand in the world for 2014, with a brand value of $158.8bn (£94.2bn)…
