Renault has further enhanced the mainstream-market affordability of its Zoe EV with a cheap new PCP offer – and this time, batteries are included.
The new deal sees a Zoe Dynamique Intens offered for £174 a month, over four years. The customer deposit is £2250 but Renault dealers will add a hefty £2750 to this, ensuring total credit (at 6.9% APR) is pegged to £10,195 on the £15,195 car.
More significantly, basic battery leasing is included in the monthly PCP payment; this normally costs £45 a month for a 3000 mile a year contract. Packages are on offer for owners who reckon they’ll cover more miles, although the difference there will have to be paid (we’ve included Renault Zoe battery lease costs below; it’s pretty complicated, which is why this all-inclusive deal is so appealing).
Add it all up and Renault says the Zoe will cost just 2p a mile to run. Not bad, given how you’ll be saving the planet and doing your bit for local air pollution as you go.
Batteries AND battery charger included
Renault is also still including a free 7kW wall box that can recharge a flat Zoe to 100% in as little as three hours. This is installed by British Gas and normally costs £214; now the government has restricted its support for installing home EV charge points, most suppliers and car firms are now charging for wall box installation.
Additional money-saving desirability (yes, there’s more) comes from 5% company car Benefit In Kind, free road tax and a 100% discount on the London Congestion Charge. EVs often enjoy free parking and recharge solutions in many cities as well.
As for the dreaded range anxiety, the Zoe has one of the larger potential ranges, at 130 miles, giving it genuine world viability. If you get caught short, says Renault, a public rapid-charger will top the battery up from flat to 80% charged in 30 minutes. Currently, there are 150 of them nationwide. Alternatively, Renault EV dealers offer charging points – and there’s also a guarantee that if you run completely flat, Renault will come out and take you to a charge point.
The PCP deal runs until 30 September 2014. If this deal doesn’t help Zoe EV sales swell between now and then, we don’t know what will. It’s a superb offer.
