Range Rover owners in London are reportedly struggling to get car insurance cover for their vehicles after a number of thefts across the capital.
Thatcham Research has revealed 294 Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport were stolen in the first half of 2014, compared to 63 BMW X5; Range Rovers are apparently being targeted because of their keyless ignition systems.
The Daily Mail reports thieves have discovered they can be bypassed using hand-held devices bought from eBay.
Owners are now apparently being refused insurance cover by some providers unless they either have underground car parking or secure parking facilities.
Both insurers and insurance brokers have reportedly called for meetings with Jaguar Land Rover about the issue.
A spokesman for Jaguar Land Rover told the Daily Mail: “Our line-up continues to meet the insurance industry requirements as tested and agreed with relevant insurance bodies.
“Nevertheless we are taking this issue very seriously.”
