The latest addition to the list of car manufacturers making things that aren’t cars is… Peugeot, with this new set of 12 cordless power tools.
That’s right, you can get your hands on Peugeot-powered hammer drills, jackhammers, circular saws, jigsaws, orbital sanders, angle grinders, polishers and multitools. All of these make up the new Peugeot EnergyHub range.
Of course, Peugeot is no stranger to manufacturing tools. The company was originally a proprietor of handyman hardware all the way back in 1810.
So, we’re sold on Peugeot being a tools supplier. It’s got the heritage, right? What we’re not so sold on is the fact that this new range “takes styling from the Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 308 GTI”. What? Power tools that look like cars? Okay…
Looking at them, all they’ve borrowed from the cars is the two-tone colour palette. A mixture of yellow and black, if we’re honest, smacks of DeWALT more than Peugeot.
Nevertheless, this is a slick-looking set of power tools that don’t in the least bit resemble a car. And so they shouldn’t. Why would they?
To go with the new range of hardware is a new logo, still featuring the lion. It’s very much an old school aesthetic to go with Peugeot’s tool-making provenance dating a century further back than its cars.
All in, the full set will cost you just over £1,000 and you can order them online now from Peugeot’s online store. What we want to know is if all the dealers and their respective service shops will be kitted out with some on-brand hardware…
