A YouGov survey has revealed that 85% of motorists admit to exceeding the 70mph speed limit on UK motorways – and a shocking 21% have driven above 100mph.
The survey of 1,724 British drivers by YouGov for Rentalcars.com found that more than a third (34%) of men admit to driving above 100mph – compared to just 8% of women.
Young drivers are the least likely to break the three figures barrier, with just 12% of 18-24-year-olds admitting to exceeding 100mph.
However, more than a quarter (26%) of 45-54-year-olds said they’d driven at more than 30mph over the national motorway speed limit.
Just 6% of respondents said they’d driven on UK motorways and never exceeded 70mph. Others refused to admit their top speed.
