Audi has opened ordering for two new added-value versions of its Q7 luxury SUV range – the Black Edition, priced from £64,405, and the Vorsprung, priced from £77,905.
The Black Edition is a familiar model within the Audi range. For those who want something better than an S line (priced from £53,555), this is the next step up; only offered with the 272hp 3.0-litre TDI engine, they stand out courtesy of a black styling pack for the radiator grille, side trim strip, bumper details and door mirrors.
You can have them in black, as pictured below, if you want to. But you don’t have to. Things are literally black or white (or one of several other colours) when it comes to Black Edition Q7s.
The wheels grow to 21-inches and, inside, there are black inlays for an interior decked out in flash Valcona leather. A full-length panoramic roof, flat-bottom steering wheel and Audi Virtual Cockpit are also included, and the fancier rear bumper is protected by a standard reverse parking camera.
But it’s not all styling stuff: listen up, enthusiasts – the new Q7 Black Edition includes adaptive air suspension ‘sport’ for the first time on a Q7 in the UK. It lowers the ride height by 15mm and features continuously adjustable adaptive damping. Making it almost certainly our Q7 of choice.
Vorsprung durch special edition
The new Vorsprung edition, meanwhile, is offered on both the Q7 and potent SQ7 (which is priced from £88,295). These models feature all the Black Edition enhancements – and plenty more on top.
They received, for example, 22-inch Audi Sport wheels and side running boards on the outside, and super sports seats with diamond contrast sticking on the inside. An extended leather pack clads the door handles, arm rests, lower door trim, centre console and bottom of the dash in hide. There’s an Alcantara rooflining too.
Front heated seats are joined by hot rear seats, Vorsprung models get a head up display, and Audi includes a 3D Bose surround sound stereo that delivers “virtually cinematic sound quality”.
Want more? How about Matrix LED headlights, Level 2 partial autonomous drive, 360-degree camera and parking assistance? Makes you wonder how Audi will top it. But we’re sure it will try. Until then, head over to configure a new Q7 Black Edition or Vorsprung, to see how long it is before you top a £100,000 asking price for these two new extra value models.
