What does the 670hp Ferrari 488 GTB need more than anything? More power, apparently – as well as carbonfibre.
That’s the view of aftermarket tuning company Novitec Rosso, which has revealed a 772hp version of the turbocharged Ferrari, capable of hitting 62mph in 2.8 seconds.
That’s, er, 0.2 seconds off the official figure, while the top speed has been boosted to 212mph.
The power increase comes from an engine and a shiny high-performance exhaust system available in various versions – including one made in lightweight inconel with optional electronic sound management.
The company says it’s not just impressive on paper, with customers noticing ‘instantaneous’ throttle response and more powerful in-gear acceleration, thanks to 658lb ft torque. Just in case a Ferrari 488 GTB has ever felt a little sluggish.
Apparently the special tuning can be activated and deactivated using the Manettino dial on the steering wheel. So for fun, you can pretend you’re driving a normal 488 GTB.
The Manettino dial can’t hide the ‘upgrades’ to the exterior, however… and they’re quite special.
Carbonfibre can be specced everywhere, while new front and rear spoilers prevent it from taking off during acceleration.
The car is lowered by around 35mm, while the hydraulic suspension can be lifted for passing over speed bumps.
The firm offers its own alloy wheels for the 488, 21-inch at the front and 22-inch at the rear, while the interior can be customised with exclusive leather and Alcantara.
