The 540hp V10 entry-level car will be joined by a 610hp R8 V10 plus variant, which will cost from £137,500.
Both models will be delivered from late 2015.
The new second-generation R8 will be the fastest and most powerful production Audi ever, and at launch be sold exclusively in 5.2-litre V10 guise. A V8 version is expected later, along with the V6 hybrid e-tron once initial ‘invite only’ sales are completed.
All new R8 will be fitred with all-LED headlamps, 19-inch alloys and electric Nappa leather seats. The V10 plus will add 20-inch alloys, 500-watt Bang & Olufsen audio and carbon ceramic brakes as standard.
The new R8 will come as standard with Audi connect functionality too, including Wi-Fi hotspot and high-speed LTE internet.
Every new Audi R8 buyer will get a day’s training at Silverstone as well, including tuition on the full Grand Prix circuit.
