MR Breakthrough Blogger 2014 winner revealed

engagesportmode.com's John Redfern scoops top prize; polodriver.com's Richard Gooding highly commended

MR Breakthrough BloggerBlogger John Redfern has been awarded the Motoring Research-sponsored Breakthrough Blogger of the Year Award in a glittering ceremony at the RAC in Pall Mall.

Redfern, creator of engagesportmode.com, received the award in front of a packaged audience of motoring journalists, PRs, celebrities and Royalty.

The prize includes a month’s paid editorial work at MR and managing director Richard Aucock, who presented the award to Redfern, explained it was hopefully the start of much bigger things for the 2014 winner.

“John really impressed us with his scope, breadth and writing abilities. engagesportmode is a great exercise in branding and blog development, with a professional look and tone: consideration has been given to all aspects of the site to create a really strong editorial feel.

“It’s exactly what we were looking for when judging the award and ably demonstrated John’s potential to us.

“We now look forward to working with him and hopefully help him make the next step in breaking through into motoring journalism.”

Enthusiast website and online magazine polodriver.com was also announced as a highly commended winner during the awards ceremony, with congratulations made on stage to founder Richard Gooding.

“Richard’s work made the decision really tough for us as his extensive and professionally-created site is an excellent example of publishing,” said Aucock.

“For this reason, we’re going to work with Richard and try to develop a work experience and exposure package with him too; we’d love to give him a platform to showcase and develop his own abilities as a motoring journalist.”
