Our very own Richard Aucock is dusting off his little book of football cliches and heading off to Vauxhall’s HQ in Luton, where England manager, Roy Hodgson, will be announcing his squad for the FIFA 2014 World Cup.
At the end of the day, it’ll be tough mixing it within the football writers, but we’ve got faith in the gaffer. And it’s a game of two halves, etc, etc.
Vauxhall is the sponsor of Home Nations Football and has confirmed its commitment as the lead partner of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales until the end of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
England will play a minimum of three group stage games in Brazil, with each match seeing the famous Vauxhall logo thrust into the households of millions of football fans up and down the country. So this summer, the sponsorship of England will pay dividends for Vauxhall.
Peter Hope, marketing director of Vauxhall Motors, said:
“We are delighted to be welcoming the England manager to Griffin House on such an iconic day in England’s World Cup campaign.
“For our employees to be engaged in such a big day in the England team calendar is very exciting and we look forward to welcoming all of the media to Vauxhall HQ.”
Our Richard will be donning his best sheepskin jacket to take his place alongside the nation’s best football journalists, each one hoping to field a question to Mr Hodgson. Although we suspect questions about Roy’s Vauxhall Insignia may be strictly off limits.
You can follow Richard’s updates from Luton via the @Editorial_MR twitter feed. We’re expecting the press conference to go to extra time. Although perhaps not penalties.
