Mercedes-Benz will reveal a hardcore new version of its AMG-branded supercar, the Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro, at the 2018 LA Auto Show.
Set to be revealed on 28 November, the new model is a ‘clubsport’ version of the Mercedes-AMG GT R, which Lewis Hamilton helped reveal on the eve of the Goodwood Revival back in 2016.
Mercedes-Benz is giving little away at this stage, but does say the new GT R Pro has been developed using insight from the AMG GT3 and AMG GT4 racing programmes “to deliver even more racetrack performance”.
Expect more aggressive aero, more power, more noise (is that even possible?), more cornering speed and maybe a bit less weight.
The new limited-edition Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro will sit alongside the revised AMG GT in LA, which carry over modifications first seen on the new 4-door AMG GT Coupe.
We will be there to bring you all the news, along with the other new models Mercedes-Benz will be showcasing. These include the new GLE (now, at last, a genuine ‘E-Class SUV’ model), the new A-Class and E 53 4Matic+ versions of the E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet.
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van will also be on the firm’s stand, following local production beginning in the U.S. for the first time. It’s made in North Charleston, South Carolina, and is expected to be such a strong seller, it’s even been given its own bodyshop, paintshop and final assembly.
