Mazda has revealed full UK specifications of its new Mazda3 ahead of the model going on sale at the beginning of next month.
Prices start at £16,695 for the 1.5-litre 100hp petrol SE hatchback, rising to £23,345 for the 2.2-litre 150hp diesel sport nav auto hatchback.
The company is emphasising its SKYACTIV technology – as seen on the Mazda6 and CX-5 – that’ll feature on the new Mazda3.
These improve fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions without compromising on driving dynamics or price, by combining efficient engines with lightweight construction and fuel-saving technology.
The diesel fastback combines an impressive 72.4mpg with a 0-62mph time of 8 seconds. We suspect a smaller diesel might be introduced later next year, which should trump its rivals in the economy stakes.
For now, the 1.5-litre petrol hatchback is likely to be the bestseller. This’ll return a combined MPG of 55.4 and reach 62mph in 10.8 seconds.
There’s also a 2.0-litre petrol available with 120 or 165hp – available with an auto ‘box with the former. Prices for the 2.0-litre petrol will start at £16,995.
