You could own Lewis Hamilton’s ‘boss whip’ for £100,000

You could cover your body in tattoos. You could master the art of striking a moody pose for your 6.2 million Instagram followers. You could even raid your Swiss bank account to bag a drive for an F1 team. But none of this would make you Lewis Hamilton. However, for a princely £100,000, you could own his Mercedes.

The reigning F1 world champion previously owned this 2015 Mercedes-Maybach S600, which is now for sale on Auto Trader for £104,990. There are 27,500 miles on the clock, but it’s not clear how many of those were driven by #HAM.

The S600 marked the return of the Maybach name, two years after it was pulled from sale by Mercedes-Benz, with Stuttgart promising the “very highest exclusivity and unparalleled comfort”. Few were sold in the UK, but the S600 was aimed at Chinese and American buyers, where you’ll find the “world’s most demanding automobile customers”.

In a since-deleted Instagram post, Lewis described the flagship of the S-Class range as “MyBossWhip”, which is a good thing, apparently.

Power is sourced from a 6.0-litre V12 twin-turbocharged engine developing 530hp, enough to propel the mobile oligarch’s palace to a top speed of 155mph, wafting to 60mph in around five seconds. Not that speed is on the high on the list of priorities for your average S600 Maybach owner. Unless you happen to be Lewis Hamilton, of course.

But even Lewis enjoys a little R and R once in while, so he would have been impressed by the low level of wind noise, creating what Mercedes claimed was the quietest rear seat area in the world.

Erin Baker, Auto Trader editorial director, said: “This is a seriously luxurious car. The standard S-Class is one of the swankiest cars that Mercedes makes, and this Maybach edition is even more high-end, featuring ultimate comfort mixed with cutting-edge technology.”

“As a Mercedes F1 driver and a four-time world champion, it’s no surprise that Lewis wanted the best of the best. Mercedes must have offered him something pretty special to replace this one. Maybe it’s the new Mercedes-AMG Project One hypercar.”

“Regardless, as celebrity cars on Auto Trader go this is something special, and I don’t anticipate it will be available for long. For the average buyer it might be a little pricey, but there are currently hundreds of S-Class models available on Auto Trader, and you can check what you can afford easily with our new search by monthly price tool.”
