Land Rover Discovery Sport scoop 001 (c) Land RoverLand Rover has given a first glimpse at how the new Discovery Sport will look in a disguised teaser shot from within the Halewood plant where it will be built.

The image appears to show the new Discovery Sport will carry through many styling features from the Land Rover Discovery Vision Concept seen at the New York Motor Show back in April – but will not be a complete reproduction of that car.

In the teaser image revealed by Land Rover, the new Discovery Sport’s Range Rover-inspired headlights can be made out, sitting below a sporty reinterpretation of the trademark clamshell bonnet. There also appears to be a surprisingly bold and standout metal-look grille

Hidden behind the disguise is the Discovery Vision’s wheelarch extension styling ‘step’.

The lower front bumper also has several round cutouts through the disguise tape, indicating Land Rover plans to fit its high-tech ‘surround view’ camera system to the new Discovery Sport.

Another test car in the background provides a first glimpse at the Discovery Sport sitting on the ground: it is believed the model is based on a stretched version of the Range Rover Evoque chassis – so will include high-tech options such as Magneride adaptive suspension.

The rear image also suggests some big and sporty alloy wheel options will feature on the new Discovery Sport.

The interior of the new Land Rover Discovery Sport can also just be made out. Here, the raked, flowing centre console seen in the Discovery Vision Concept is apparent, suggesting the interior of the concept may provide a very close indication of how the production car will look.

This includes what looks like some neat metal-effect detailing for the dashboard and steering wheel.
