Jaguar Land Rover supports more jobs than Derby

The Birmingham Post reveals this means JLR supports more jobs than the entire population of Derby.

The figure may be set to grow yet further too, with reports the firm may build a brand new plant in Coventry to assemble the new Land Rover Defender.

JLR’s huge jobs growth means it now employs almost double the number of people it did just four years ago. This staggering rate of expansion comes as it undergoes a very ambitious growth strategy to realise the untapped potential of both brands.

The latest big expansion in Britain is a £600 million round of investment that will expand the Castle Bromwich plant and further develop technical centres in both Coventry and Warwick.

The Castle Bromwich expansion is to build the all-new Jaguar XF executive saloon, which will make its public debut at the 2015 New York Motor Show next week.

Birmingham Post columnist Lord Bhattacharyya said: “This shows Jaguar Land Rover’s faith in the West Midlands. What better way to demonstrate it than this?”
