It’s Le Mans Classic this weekend (4-6 July) and the continued revival of Alpine will see a showcase of classic machinery, including the most powerful Renault-Alpine ever built, this 1978 A443. It qualified on the front row but retired in the race with a seized engine. With 550hp from a 2.2-litre V6 turbo, this was maybe not a complete surprise.
