Hyundai i10The Driving Instructors Association – trade body for learner-driver tutors – has made the Hyundai i10 its ‘Training Car of the Year 2015’.

“Although this may be a surprising choice to some,” editor of Driving Instructor magazine Simon Miller said, “the excellent value of the Hyundai, coupled with its handling and ride, makes it a sensible buy from a business perspective.”

Expert judges praised the car’s high quality interior, ample standard spec and affordability.

Tony Whitehorn, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor UK, saw it coming: “Thanks to its low running costs, it’s no surprise that the i10 is so popular among driving instructors.

“Combined with its low insurance rating, i10 also makes an incredibly affordable first car once the driving test has been passed!”

Let’s hope learner-drivers don’t get too used to the posh heated seats, steering wheel and panoramic glass roof found in the new Hyundai i10 Premium SE model, though: they’re not commonplace on many budget city cars…
