Skoda has released these teaser sketches of the Vision S concept ahead of its debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.
The concept car will preview a large seven-seat SUV set to the rival the Kia Sorento when it arrives in 2017.
The SUV will be the first of several Skoda SUVs to be launched over the next four years. It features styling cues from the 2014 VisionC concept as well as production cars such as the latest Superb and Fabia.
In typical Skoda fashion, the production model is likely to be very similar to the concept car that previews it.
At 4.7m long and 1.91m wide, the Skoda SUV is similar in size to the Kia Sorento, Hyundai Santa Fe and Land Rover Discovery Sport. It’ll be based on VW’s MQB platform, and share its underpinnings with Volkswagen’s CrossBlue SUV – also due next year.
The engine line-up is yet to be confirmed, but expect a choice of front- or four-wheel drive, and a range of petrol and diesels as used elsewhere in the Volkswagen Group range. A six-speed manual and seven-speed dual clutch auto ‘box will also be offered.
When the production model arrives next year, it’s likely to undercut rivals – with a starting price of around £25,000.
