The Ford Fiesta ST is widely accepted as one of the most fun cars you can buy for less than £20,000. But until now, it’s only been available with three doors.
While it looks great, it makes getting in the back tricky. And more doors, more, er, friends, as the young people say these days. So that’s what Ford’s finally given the popular hot hatch.

The five-door model is powered by the same 182hp 1.6-litre petrol Ecoboost as the three-door ST, meaning it’ll hit 62mph in a just-as-quick 6.9 seconds. Crucially, its chassis remains the same, meaning it’ll out-handle most things this side of a Porsche Cayman.
“Ford has now sold more than 38,000 Fiesta STs in Europe since we introduced the acclaimed hot hatchback in 2013, and growing numbers of customers have been asking us for a five-door version,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president of marketing, sales and service at Ford of Europe.
“The Fiesta ST with five doors makes an affordable Ford Performance driving experience accessible to an even greater number of customers.”
UK prices start at £19,495 for a five-door Fiesta ST-2 – that’s £600 more than the equivalent three-door. The firm reckons it’ll account for around a quarter of all sales in Europe when order books open next month.
