Emeli Sandé reveals hot new Jaguar XE S

Jaguar-XE-SBritish singer Emeli Sandé will help launch the Jaguar XE in London on September 8th – but she appears to have already helped reveal a performance Jaguar XE S variant.

In an image confirming the London XE performance, Sandé is pictured next to the clearest front-end view of Jaguar’s new compact saloon yet released.

And the grille is wearing an S badge.

With its deep front bumper, voluminous air intakes and ample use of black mesh, it looks certain the XE will thus launch with a hot range-topper; while Jaguar hasn’t even mentioned the XE S in the Sandé announcement, performance XE models are expected to use Jaguar’s supercharged 3.0-litre V6 engine.

In the F-Type, this produces 340hp in base guise, and 380hp in the F-Type S. Even the base 340hp engine would give the Jaguar XE S bragging rights; an Audi S4 produces 333hp, for example, helping it achieve a 0-62mph time of 5.0 seconds.

It would also give Jaguar room to extend the XE range further upwards with possible R variants – we know these are coming as Jaguar’s already stated there will be an XE with a 186mph – that’s 300km/h – top speed.

Could this be where a further-tuned version of the 380hp V6 comes in, taking it up to a BMW M3-matching 431hp, or matching the Audi RS 4’s 450hp?

Emeli Sandé, Stella McCartney and Idris Elba to #FEELXE

Sandé has been signed up by Jaguar to create a song for the Jaguar XE launch in London on September 8th. She’ll be joined by fashion designer Stella McCartney and Emmy nominated Brit actor Idris Elba, who will also create projects for the launch event.

Fiona Pargeter, PR Director for Jaguar Land Rover, explained that: “XE is a very special car and we wanted to ensure it had a very special launch. We are very excited to be working with such amazing global talent to create interesting and engaging experiences that we can share around the world.”
